ABOUT

The Johnson County Detention Center is located at the Johnson County Sheriff's Office complex at 301 Porter Industrial Road. The detention center opened in 1997 and replaced the former jail which was located on the 3rd floor of the Johnson County Courthouse.

There are 19 full-time employees, including the jail administrator, detention deputies, and a court officer. The detention center is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was designed to house 105 inmates, both males and females, on felony and misdemeanor charges.

Inmates are held for all agencies within Johnson County and any other agency requesting housing, if available. Inmates sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections are housed until they are ready to be transported. It is not designed to hold juvenile offenders for more than 6 hours. It is a non-smoking facility.

Act 309 inmates from the Arkansas Department of Corrections are responsible for the building maintenance & cleaning, grounds upkeep, cooking, and laundry.

Inmate Visitation

COVID-19 VISITATION:
During the Coronavirus Pandemic ALL inmate visitation will be done remotely. This can be done from your home or any computer or device with internet access.

In August 2019, the Detention Center began the new video visitation process. Each inmates will receive 5 visits a week, lasting 15 minutes each. Please visit https://videovisit.ncic.com to set up your visit. If you have difficulty opening this website, try using Google Chrome browser.

When attempting to use the visitation kiosks, please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your scheduled visit. JCDC staff will no longer make accommodations for visits that are cancelled or shortened due to the tardiness of the person visiting. We appreciate your visits and hope this announcement will make the process run more smoothly.

During video visitations, nudity will not be tolerated. This will result in suspension of the inmate's visitation.

Commissary is deposited in the Sheriff's Administrative Office. You may also make deposits online.
