Johnson County is in the Arkansas River Valley and covers 673 square miles. We have a diverse population of 24,800. Approximately 40% of the county is national forest land. The Arkansas River forms the southern border of the county and the Ozark National Forest is the northern border. Clarksville is the county seat. We are home to the Johnson County Peach Festival and the beautiful University of the Ozarks. Johnson County is home to some of the best hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities in the state.
