PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHNSON COUNTY SHERIFF LARRY JONES

On July 9, 2017 at approximately 5:21p.m., the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s dispatch received a call of a possible drowning at the Oark bridge area of the Mulberry River.

Upon arrival of emergency personnel it was discovered that a 10 year old female had drowned. This incident occurred while there were families at the site having a family gathering. There were other juveniles of the families that were also at the creek when this incident happened. Three of these juveniles were transported to medical facilities with two of them being airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital and one being transported via ambulance to Johnson Regional Medical Center. The mother of the drowning victim, Paw Moo, was also transported via ambulance to Johnson Regional Medical Center.

The two juveniles that were transported to ACH have been treated and released. The mother, Paw Moo, has also been treated and released from JRMC. The other juvenile is still hospitalized at JRMC with non-life threatening injuries.

I ask that you say a prayer for the families involved in this tragedy, as well as all of the first responders that were dealing with this incident.

Sheriff Larry Jones
