PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF SHERIFF LARRY JONES

On 12-5-2016 mid-afternoon the Johnson Co. Dispatch center received a call with vague information of a possible hostage situation in the Knoxville area of eastern Johnson County. Deputies responded to the area and checked several residences without success. Later in the evening we received information that Russellville officers were following a vehicle that could possibly be involved in the earlier reported incident. This vehicle ultimately got off of the interstate at Knoxville. Upon an attempt by officers to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled with shots being fired from the fleeing vehicle. Officers lost sight of the vehicle at this point and it was later found abandoned in the Knoxville area. A search for the suspects in the area led to the arrest of three subjects who are currently in the Johnson County Detention Center. This case is still an active investigation with our investigators and deputies following up tip and leads. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s office.

Thank you,

Larry Jones
