Barricaded Suspect took into custody

On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, Johnson County Deputies responded to a report of a male subject trying to break into a residence on PR 1682 at approximately 2:17pm. While dispatch was on the phone with the complainant the male subject made entry and dispatch lost contact with the caller. Dispatch attempted to make contact back with the caller but was unsuccessful. When deputies arrived they were told the subject later identified as Amit Mahesh had fled the scene. During a search for the subject a nearby neighbor advised one of the officers that the subject was inside their residence and he was armed with a gun. The neighbor advised they were allowed to leave. The residence was surrounded by deputies who tried to make contact with the suspect but was never able to get him to communicate with them. After several attempts to make contact with the suspect Ozark Police Department Special Response Team was contacted and responded to the scene. After being briefed the team made entry into the house and took the suspect into custody.

The suspect is currently being held at the Johnson County Detention Center on a parole violation out of Los Angeles County California. The incident in Knoxville on PR 1682 is still under investigation.
