Man Rolls Truck Over Embankment; 12 Year-Old Daughter Calls 911

A 911 call placed by a 12 year-old girl on Friday, May 4 led to the arrest of her father on numerous charges after he rolled a truck off of an embankment north of Horsehead Lake at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The 12 year-old stated that she and her father were driving up a road somewhere near Horsehead Lake and the truck rolled over a hill and her father was hurt.

Deputies responded to the scene and spread out to check the various roads behind the Horsehead Lake area.

After approximately 10 minutes of searching, the girl was found by Sheriff's Office personnel standing in the roadway of a Forest Service road, known as the Grassy Point area, still talking to 911 on the phone.

Her father, the driver of the truck, Charles Wayne Munger, age 40 of Ozark was sitting on the side of the road with injuries to his head and shoulder.  The truck, a 1-ton flatbed, was approximately 30' off of a steep embankment, on its top, facing toward the roadway.

First responders and assisting agencies staged at the swimming area of the lake.  Because of the narrow width of the roadway, EMS and first responders arrived via ATV's and a 4 wheel-drive truck.

Munger was transported in the back of a truck to the staging area where he was transferred to the ambulance and taken to Johnson Regional for treatment.

Munger is charged with D.W.I., Driving on a Suspended License, No Proof of Insurance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Instrument of Crime, Endangering The Welfare of a Minor and Careless/Prohibited Driving.

The 12 year-old suffered a small scratch to her back which did not require treatment.

Units responding included the Sheriff's Office, R.F.D. 8 First Responders, Lamar and Clarksville First Responders who were camping at Horsehead Lake, EMS, and Arkansas Game and Fish.
