Accident Leads To Drug Arrest

A traffic accident led to the arrest of a Rogers resident on Monday, June 20 when it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant and drugs in his possession. 

Deputy Matt Ross responded to the accident on Highway 164 and upon running a check on the driver, Gordon Bright, age 32, it was determined that Bright had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Decatur Police Department.

Decatur P.D. confirmed the warrant for Failure To Appear and Bright was arrested.  Upon being processed at the detention center, it was discovered that Bright had a smoking device in his shoe and a pill bottle on his person that contained three different narcotic medications that were not prescribed to him.

Bright was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (3 Counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Introducing A Controlled Substance Into A Government Facility and Careless/Prohibited Driving.

Bright appeared before Circuit Judge Dennis Sutterfield on Tuesday, June 21st where his bond was set at $10,000.00 cash/commercial with a court date of July 1st in Johnson County Circuit Court.
