A Johnson County resident surrendered herself at the Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, May 4 on a warrant issued by the prosecutor's office for animal cruelty. 

Lee Saunooke, age 71, was booked into the Johnson County Detention Center and was released on her own recognizance after a bond hearing.  She is to report to Johnson County Circuit Court on May 6.

The warrant charges her with 2 counts of Aggravated Cruelty To Animals (Felony) and 14 counts of Cruelty To Animals (Misdemeanor).  The warrant was issued based on an investigation into the neglect of horses on her property located on Highway 21 on or about February 25, 2011.
