Two fishermen discovered a set of skeletal remains Saturday, April 9 at approximately 2:30 p.m. The remains were located at the edge of a backwater pond off of Horsehead Creek south of Hartman. Sheriff's Office personnel were notified and went to the scene which is in a remote area known to very few people. Items discovered at the scene indicate the remains belong to a female. Approximately 27 pieces of evidence were collected near the remains. The remains have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to establish identity and possibly cause of death. The investigation is continuing. Other agencies assisting in the recovery were the Johnson County Dive Team, the Johnson County Coroner's Office and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
