Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest, Solves Several Burglaries and Thefts

A traffic stop by Deputy Jacob Shook on April 12 led to the execution of two search warrants and the arrest of a Hartman resident on several charges of burglary and theft. Gary Don Miner, age 45 was arrested after items reported taken in local thefts and commercial burglaries were recovered in his vehicle. A search warrant was served at his residence on CR 2171 by deputies and investigators with the Johnson and Franklin County Sheriffs Offices and Clarksville P.D. on Tuesday, April 13 where items taken from businesses in Johnson and Franklin Counties were recovered. Johnson County and Clarksville P.D. personnel executed a separate search warrant with Newton County S.O. personnel on Wednesday, April 14 at a residence near Jasper in connection with the case. Other items taken from Johnson County were located at the residence. Miner is charged with Commercial Burglary (3 counts), Theft of Property (2 counts), Criminal Trespass (3 counts), Breaking or Entering (1 count) and Criminal Mischief (1 count). Items taken include trailers, copper wire and items from a gas well. Charges are pending against Miner in Franklin and Newton counties as a result of the search warrants. Miner appeared before Circuit Judge Bill Pearson on Wednesday, April 14 where his bond was set at $100,000 cash/commercial with a May 7 court date in Johnson County Circuit Court.
