96 dogs, 6 cats and 2 guinea pigs were loaded onto a custom built trailer and left for a new life on October 8, as members of the Humane Society of the United States left for Maryland. The animals were rescued near Lamar on Tuesday, October 6 and received preliminary medical care at a makeshift shelter prior to being transported. The owners of the animals signed them over to the Humane Society on Wednesday, October 7.
